Hello! My name is Christine Vu, aka Doan Trang. I am an UX/UI Designer located in Austin, TX with 10 years of healthcare experience under my belt. For as long as I could hold a pencil, I have been writing and drawing worlds from my imagination. My art skills have evolved from traditional to digital. I have worked in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, Vectornator, and a variety of open-source applications.
My love of art has been something that has remained despite the many choices that often led me away from it.
As a patient care tech, I worked directly with patients, learning to read visual cues, body language, and using my empathetic tendencies to infer their wants and needs without them having to verbally express it. These skills have helped me better understand people and have given me the patience to take a step back and put myself in the perspective of others. I am able to view problems and come up with solutions that will benefit people rather than focusing on my own point of view.
After moving my skills from the floor to the desk, I learned how to work with clients and retain relationships between my company and the hospitals we were contracted with. I strived to resolve conflict and soothe over issues when miscommunication arises and worked to streamline processes and materials so others can work more efficiently and effectively. By learning how to work with a variety of people in different fields, I have learned to adapt and communicate to whatever situation I am thrown into.
After a decade in healthcare, it was time for me to turn my passion into a career. I decided to finally take the leap and make the move to establish a career in UX/UI design. By utilizing my empathic nature as an asset and combining my background in science and art, I have found a path to use my skills to do what I love.
I want to continue to build on my design skills and eventually bring any idea to life.
Besides art, I enjoy anything that allows me to create and imagine: listening to music, playing instruments, sewing, knitting, embroidery, gardening, creative writing, reading, photography, and cooking.
I love animals, particularly dogs.
I am Vietnamese-American, born and raised in California.
I enjoy anything regarding, related, and/or similar to Lord of the Rings and Tolkien's works.
